McLaren 650S Le Mans Looks Astonishing In The Flesh
July 6, 2015 | Posted by Bogdan Zoltan
Seeing a limited edition Le Mans 650S “in the flesh” confirms the fact that it’s one of the coolest McLarens up to date.
In fact, I could call it the coolest modern McLaren ever built, considering all its visual cues are a throwback to the F1, F1 LM and the Le Mans winning No59 F1 GTR. It was even designed in consultation with Peter Stevens, the F1’s original designer.
Maybe one of its most prolific design cues is the roof-mounted “snorkel” air intake, which channels air to the twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet. Of course, the Le Mans edition lightweight 5-spoke wheels and the “Sarthe Grey” color are just the icing on the cake.
The wheels are not there to visually impress and that can be confirmed by the 19 inch rims in the front and 20 in the rear setup. They might look boring to some, but nothing ever made the 650S look so detailed and clean.
As you can see from the custom plaques, this limited edition variant was developed by McLaren Special Operations division to commemorate the 20th anniversary of McLaren’s 1995 Le Mans performance, where five F1s finished 1st, 3rd, 4th 5th and 13th in the demanding 24-hour race.
Limited to only 50 units worldwide and available only as a coupe, the McLaren 650S Le Mans is a rare sight to see even in unofficial pictures.
It has carbon fiber everything; carbon fiber side mirrors, carbon fiber side skirts, carbon fiber air vents, carbon fiber splitters, spoiler and engine cover. But the best part is found at the interior, on the headliner, where the snorkel is exposing its carbon fiber body, giving the cabin a racing-car aura, just like the rough vibe of 90’s carbon-fiber garnished cockpit would.
If you look closely at the front fenders, you will notice some horizontal vents. Those are actually louvers made to reduce air pressure over the front wheels and are seemingly tempered in contrast to the ones present on the original GTR.
All in all, the level of detail this car carries is truly amazing and it can keep you captivated for hours. But how much does it cost to stare at a McLaren 650S Le Mans all day? Well, McLaren Newport Beach will happily sell you this very example for a cool $355,139.

TVR Already Accepts Deposits For New 2017 Sports Car
July 6, 2015 | Posted by Bogdan Zoltan
Reborn British car manufacturer TVR is now taking deposits on upcoming V8 Supercar.
A month passed since TVR announced a sports-car revival in conjunction with Cosworth and Gordon Murray and now, the British marque is already accepting deposits for the upcoming automobile. It seems they mean business.
As from July 7th, anyone interested in owning TVR’s future vehicle can make a £5,000 ($7,800) deposit to practically reserve a car from the limited first year of production, believed to be in the “low hundreds”, as Les Edgar, Chairman of TVR stated.
The reason why TVR took this decision is because the revival announcement sparked an unexpected wave of interest from the public, as John Chasey, Operations Director of TVR, said:
"We've been totally blown away by the reaction to the new car. Our phone lines and online enquiry system went into meltdown when the news was announced, and we decided that we must begin to bring a structure to the enquiries and build a delivery pipeline well in advance of production. Volumes in year one will be limited as we ramp up production, so this allows us to reward those individuals prepared to make a financial commitment at this early stage."
So, even if it sounds shady, you have to understand that in order for an uprising, small car manufacturer to survive, it needs some sort of commitment from the potential buyer - that's more substantial than a pinky swear.
Mind you, a £5,000 deposit isn’t much for the person willing to spend a heap amount of cash on the car. Furthermore, TVR is offering a limited quantity of reduced deposits for the TVR Car Club members, during July, as a celebration of the club’s 50th anniversary. Anyone who’s been a member for more than 6 months gets to put only £2,500 ($3,903) on the line.
Don’t forget, the car will be powered by a Cosworth developed, naturally-aspirated, dry-sumped V8, believed to deliver somewhere around 450 horses.

TopCar's Stinger GTR is a Beastly Porsche 911 Turbo S
June 28, 2015 at 10:02 pm | Posted by Sergiu Tudose
Believe it or not, making exterior modifications to a Porsche 911 is extremely difficult. If you're not careful, you end up with something that no longer looks iconic.
This is why so many 911 exterior kits aren't made up of too many new parts. You can do something to the spoilers, the wing, the wheels, a few other bits and you're finished. Any more than that and Porsche purists are going to look at your funny.
However, TopCar found a way to make this 911 Turbo S look a lot more aggressive without ruining its original appearance. This car is called the Stinger GTR and it features new front & rear bumpers, side skirts, new bonnet, and modified air intakes and scoops.
We don't care what you're driving. Heck, you could be driving the Novitec Torado or the Mansory Carbonado and odds are you're still going to admire this 911 for how menacing it looks.
As for the wheels, they are simply spectacular. We're talking about a set of ADV5 MV2 SL wheels, measuring 21x9 in the front and 21x11.5 at the rear.
Overall, this is by far one of the best looking if not the best looking custom Porsche 911 you'll find. It even looks more aggressive than the Techart version - and that is one seriously mean 911 Aero Kit!
One particularly cool touch is the fact that it says "STINGER" on the back. That lets you know that somebody went through the trouble of creating a whole new identify for it and didn't just glue on a few custom bits from some random tuning company.
The Stinger GTR kit will cost you €34,800 but that doesn't include all the optional extras such as the installation, paint, logos, exhaust tips and so on. In terms of performance, you get an extra 60 HP and 130 Nm (95 lb-ft) of peak torque - which should definitely help the car with its mid-range pulling power, not to mention with hitting the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) mark in under 3 seconds.

750PS Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Gives Lamborghini Aventador A Run For Its Money
June 27, 2015 | Posted by Sergiu Tudose
As a general rule, it's very hard to outrun a 700 PS supercar that also comes with all-wheel drive and can hit the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark in just 2.9 seconds.
If you want to at least not get embarrassed by a Lamborghini Aventador, you better make sure to spice up your family car with not just more power than the Lambo but definitely more torque so that you can compensate for the extra weight.
What we have here is a typical 557 PS Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG (not the AMG S version apparently) that's seen its power output grow to an impressive 750 PS.
Even though we don't know how much torque it has as of right now, it has to be way more than its standard 720 Nm (530 lb-ft) - which was more than the Lambo had to begin with (690 Nm / 508 lb-ft).
Off the line, a stock CLS 63 AMG 4MATIC can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds. That is really fast for a four door saloon (coupe, whatever), yet still it's almost a full second slower than the Lambo's sprint time.
We can only assume that the performance upgrade helps it accelerate about as fast as the Aventador because that's what we're seeing in the video. In fact, it jumps off the line quicker than the Lambo which is weird to say the least, since it's heavier and shouldn't be able to shift gears faster.
Now even if the Aventador had a bad or more likely a mediocre start, it still managed to claw back into the race and make this a near photo finish at the end.
We won't spoil it any further, so that you can check out who won for yourselves.

Watch This Monster Truck Stunt Defy The Rules Of Physics
June 24, 2015 | Posted by Bogdan Zoltan
Remember those Hot Wheels tracks play-sets that catapulted toy cars in the air and provoked “incredible” tricks and massive miniature crashes? Well, this stunt is sort of like that, only more impressive.
The key difference here, in the real world, is that nobody wants to see a crash (maybe only the kids), because the acrobatics are way cooler and more magnificent, as they seem to defy the basic rules of physics.
Take for instance 11-time Monster Jam World Finals Champion, Tom Meents, as he performs a double backflip with a 1500 HP Monster Truck that weighs 10,500 pounds (4,762 kg). A regular backflip with such a vehicle is obviously not impressive enough.
Just for the record, there are BMX riders that struggle to do a double backflip.
So, if you were a kid playing with die-cast toys back in the day and someone told you that outrageous stunts are impossible to execute in the real world, they were totally wrong, apparently. Mom!

Bmw shows off new solar charging station for your car.
June 24th, 2015 by Alyn Wallace
BMW have just unveiled the curtain on their new Solar Carport concept – a solar charging station for your electric car. It was showed off as part of the media launch of the BMW i8 in Los Angeles, a plug in hybrid sports car being readied for the market.
The concept is quite simple; an open style garage to park your car underneath with solar panels on the roof. With the first deliveries of the BMW i3 underway, it’s clear to see that BMW is making a stance for its green credentials. This can be seen further more in the details of the Solar Carport concept which comes from the BMW Group DesignworksUSA in California. The upright supports are made from bamboo which with its quick growing nature is considered a rather sustainable resource. The rest of the frame is composed of carbon fibre parts, sticking with the same theme as the new i3 and i8 vehicles.
Tom Allemann, of BMW Designworks USA explains, “With the solar carport concept we opted for a holistic approach: not only is the vehicle itself sustainable,” he said, “but so is its energy supply.”
The Solar Carport is set to work alongside the BMW i Wallbox Pro that charges much quicker than the charging cable provided as standard, offering a charge to 80% in less than two hours. Not only that, any surpluss energy produced from the solar panels can be diverted to power the owner’s home if the car becomes fully charged. Although unless you live in a consistently sunny country, we expect you’ll be plugging the car into your home’s supply anyway.
“This is therefore an entirely new generation of carports that allows energy to be produced in a simple and transparent way,” Allemann continued. “It renders the overarching theme of lightweight design both visible and palpable.”
A fully charged high-voltage battery running the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car has a range of about 22 miles in all-electric mode, according to BMW. But then again, it is a hybrid and not designed to run on electricity alone. Unlike the Tesla Model S which offers a full electric range of 265 miles.
BMW’s electric vehicle lineup launched in July starting with the full electric i3, worth about $41,350, with a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery for a range of 80 to 100 miles. The i8 is obviously expected to be a little more pricey at $135,925 and is expected in the fall this year. This new theme from BMW is demonstrating a focus on green, premium vehicles with modern, eco-friendly design.

Watch:F1 transporter jumps speeding Lotus F1 car in epic world-recocr stunt.
June 24th, 2014 by Lara Lopes
A giant semi-truck sets a new Guinness world record after catapulting over a speeding Lotus F1 car. The jump was made as an advert for EMC technology, who are technology partners for Lotus F1 team. Check it out in the video below:
In fact the drivers, Mike Ryan and Martin Ivanov, are experience stunt drivers in various Bond, Bourne, and Fast and Furious films, so perhaps the cinematic quality of the leap shouldn’t be so surprising.
The Lotus team are now in possession of an impressive new world record as the F1 transporter managed to clear the longest ever truck jump at 83 feet and seven inches. Stuntman Ryan hurtled the 16-tonne transporter truck towards the ramp at 70 mph, whilst brave Ivanov steered the F1 car underneath the jump of the beast.
Fortunately, everything went according to plans and pre-run computer simulations and the world record was set without any injuries.
